How do you become an expert at yoga if this is your first time doing it?
You need to find a class first!

According to Alexandra Legouix, a TV sports presenter and licensed yoga teacher, finding a class appropriate for beginners is the most crucial step.
As a beginner, you won't feel pressured to keep up with more experienced students or fearful of more challenging poses when you take an entry-level session. Online yoga tutorials and DVDs are now available for those who prefer to work out at home.
As a novice, yoga blocks can help you work at your own pace, or you might choose a chair yoga class for a milder beginning.
Choosing a DVD or online class given by an accredited practitioner "is very crucial," Alexandra advises, because "you are not getting the hands-on guidance which you would get in a class," she explains.
Even a few practice sessions a week might help you improve, so stick with it.
Three times a week "is an excellent way to establish a pattern and allow for rest days," says Alexandra.
She argues that people should not feel compelled or pressured to attend specific sessions.
Instead, your yoga practice should be incorporated into your daily routine and work in tandem with any other fitness activities you're a part of.
Stretching or meditation can also be a terrific way to start the day if you're short on time.
Is flexibility a prerequisite for success in yoga?
However, it's encouraging to hear from professionals like Alexandra that you don't have to be very flexible to enjoy the practice.
"Having a flexible body isn't necessary to be a competent yoga practitioner. I never tell people to try to touch the floor straight-legged right quickly."
Alexandra recommends easing into postures and building up your strength and flexibility gradually. She also recommends improving blood flow and warming up your muscles before attempting more challenging poses.
In what ways can yoga aid your core?
You can't maintain a proper balance or posture in yoga if you don't have control over your core.
Laura Pearce, a yoga and breathwork instructor, said: "Most yoga practices have several elements that serve to strengthen the core.
"Balancing training, such as the Chaturanga Vinyasa high-low plank combo, activates proprioceptors and strengthens neurological connections that allow us to "access our core." Dynamic practices also incorporate massive abdominal exercises, such as the apparent balance work.
In yoga, side plank, half-moon, and backbends are fantastic techniques to develop the lower back and gluteal muscles and oblique activating positions like a half-moon.
Laura suggested Forrest Yoga, which begins with a series of sit-ups and most Power, Rocket, Ashtanga, and other very dynamic practices, for significant core building.
In addition to the physical postures, yoga's breathwork strengthens the core.
She concluded by saying: "Many individuals are unaware of the diaphragm's importance as one of our body's most significant and stable muscles. The Psoas is one of the deep-set muscles with which the diaphragm links and stabilizes the spine.
Breathwork is a significant component of most yoga practices. With the help of breathing exercises such as Uddiyana and Mula Bandha, dubbed 'tummy and root lock,' we can develop a flexible and robust diaphragm. Although complex and time-consuming, these practices tremendously impact our essence."
